Lavender Moon Cupcakery in Alexandria

We chose this bakery for our engagement party this past summer. Even people that don't eat cupcakes...ATE THESE CUPCAKES! We tried three flavors and all of them were a total hit! I highly recommend this bakery to anyone, any time and for any occasion. The taste was phenomenal!

This place is awesome! They have very yummy cupcakes and so many different delicious flavors to try from. The store is eclectic and comfy, it's a great place to come in the afternoon and sit and have a yummy cupcake with a drink. I have been coming here for a decade and they never disappoint in their quality. The Lemon Blackberry cupcake is their best seasonal cupcake in my opinion! The staff are always friendly and helpful, explaining anything you need them to with a smile. I would highly recommend this place, they have the best cupcakes in the DC area!

Found this place while just walking around one night, and it was a pretty great find! It's a small place, and I love the vibe of it! The flavor selection they had made it difficult to choose which cupcake because they all sounded so good. And with that said, they ARE good! I will be returning soon. Unfortunately there are no pictures because I dove in to the cupcake before I thought to take one.

We got 6 cupcakes yesterday and i must say they were so delicious the whole family loved them! The icing was great!!!! I'm always on the look out for a good cupcake place and i think i found mine! 5 stars all the way!

Cute, cozy, easy to find and the place smells like cupcakes the moment you walk in. There was a decent assortment of cupcakes to choose from. I got 4 and they were good.

My sister and I LOVED these cupcakes. The Honey Lemon Green Tea cupcakes might sound a little strange, but the icing was amazing. The Boston Cream Pie cupcake had the same type of icing and was just as great.

Delicious. Pretty. Delicious again. Cool, original flavors as well as classic vanilla, chocolate, Red Velvet.

This is by FAR the best cupcakes I have ever had in the DC area and I have tried many places. Extremely moist cake and amazing icing that is not too sweet. My favorites are the ones with a cream cheese based icing. Great variety as well. If you love peanut butter, you must try the Devil's Food Peanut Butter Mousse. Other greats are Boston Cream and Blood Orange Dreamsicle (yes - it does taste like a dreamsicle). Always have 7 or 8 core flavors with several specials such as the nutty Irishman.

This is a nice little cupcake shop just off of King St in Old Town Alexandria. I've walked by this place several times over the last few years and finally decided to stop in and give them a try. They had a nice selection of flavors and prices that are pretty comparable with some of the other local cupcake shops in the area. I went with the Boston Cream Pie and chocolate covered strawberry cupcakes and both were pretty good. Definitely check them out if you're in Old Town and in the mood for something sweet.

The only place I buy cupcakes. Way better than Georgetown cupcake!

My wife and I loved the selection, private e, and taste of their cupcakes. The shop is clean and cute and their packaging is beautiful. There is something there for almost every taste.

Was pleasantly surprised by this cupcakery! I bought 4 different flavors and they each were delicious and had us wanting more. The cake was moist and the icing creamy, not overly sweet and paired perfectly with the cake. Will definitely be back. Try them out!

My daughter brought a box of assorted flavors for my birthday. We had so much fun with everyone tasting all the different flavors— the tasting became a party of its own . Each cake was unique and flavorful Good job!

The cupcakes may be great, but the 100% backwards operation is negative. All of the preorders for the Harry Potter gathering are not available, but walk ups have free reign and full availability. Talk about having your business sense backwards.

The cupcakes here are very good. Especially the strawberry mascorpone, it is very light, fluffy, and delicious.

If you are walking by and craving a cupcake, by all means stop in. They're a nice treat and you will have a variety of flavors to choose from. Its a little expensive for what you're getting though.

They make amazing cupcakes. I bought a half dozen for my husband's birthday and we were absolutely in like be with the cupcakes. The taste, the quality, and the price were perfect.

Cupcakes were very tasty! They have interesting flavors and bring the cupcakes out in small batches so they are always fresh. Also the decor is very cute!

Love this little secret place. The texture and moisture of these cakes...so good. Each cake has its own -should I say personality-lol. Unlike some of the other places with same texture. The only reason you can tell they are different because the icing. The cake and the icing here blend so well. They run out of flavors often, but I guess because they are so good.

Absolutely extraordinary cupcakes. Beats Alexandria cupcake and Georgetown cupcake hands down. The hummingbird special is also to die for.

The staff was really friendly, but the cupcakes were some of not the best I’ve had... maybe cause I had not had them in a long time, but I loved them and I’ll be back. We had a red velvet, lime (maybe key lime), and 2 others and there were all delicious 😋 We will be back!

- cupcakes were very good- prices were super cheap- staff was friendly- place was clean- nice selection- overall I'd recommend this place to anyone- only thing is that I would recommend to the owner of the place is with the business name of "lavender moon cupcakery" I'd turn it into a witchy themed place to bring in more customers and to have a cool one of a kind place around the area since they already have the nice name and logo for it.

For the price and location I expected better. They have many interesting options, however the cake and frosting on each of the 3 cupcakes we tried all tasted very similar.Just okay.

Wonderful customer service and lovely shop. It's a nice stop if you're walking down King St. I love baked goods in general and they have some pretty interesting flavors to try. I like how creative they are. I didn't love the cupckaes themslef but I would try the shop at least one more time. I found the cupckaes too dense with too much frosting.

Very excited to try the cupcakes after reading the reviews. The place is very nice and the staff too, but after walking for ten minutes to get there they were sold out. There was nothing on the display counter. Call them before you go and ask if they close early and if they have some cupcakes left.

One of the best cupcakes I've ever had! Come out with different flavors other than vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. My favorite is the Hummingbird cupcake.

Cupcake did not live up to the hype! We ordered a dozen and most turned out to be dry on the inside. The frostings were OK, but without a moist cupcake what is the point! Service was only mediocre too. The folks working the counter seemed almost upset that I didn't know exactly what I wanted and made me feel I was keeping them from "something" when I asked a few questions. Definitely not recommended!

Super yummy cupcakes! I got a bourbon sweet pecan something delicious and it was incredible. I also want to give a shout-out to them for their support of their local community. I very much appreciated the cupcake while I was furloughed by the federal government, so support them for their yummy treats and awesome investment in their community!

I called Lavendar Moon Bakery asking for cake pops that looked like cats for a friends birthday. The wonderful folks there immediately said they could do it and made to most incredible “cat pops”! I ordered 2 dozen and when I received them I realized that every face was a different cat!!! WHAT!! 24 different faces!! I couldn’t believe it! They also went out of their way to suggest some fun flavor combinations at my request. I’ve been trying to get a bakery to do that for years and have never gotten a single suggestion. I WILL be ordering from them again!

First time in the shop and I sampled 4 cupcakes with a friend! I went ahead and placed an order for a dozen. with Amy who was super helpful and answered all of my questions with a smile . I will definitely recommend these cupcakes to my friends!!!

Great cupcakes, got some for my birthday. I personally liked Boston cream and Vanilla on vanilla. They also have gluten-free cupcakes. The employee was sweet. The place was lit dimly and not very esthetic. They did not carry candles, which I actually recommend them to sell.

I highly recommend the Vanilla Bean with Lemon Curd. Too many cupcake shops serve dried out cupcakes or haven't found the right mix between sweet but not too sweet. At Lavendar Moon, they figured it out quite well! The lemon curd is nicely tart, but not overly so and the icing is sweet without making someone go into a sugar coma (and I love overly sweet things!). The shop is super cute, the help is pleasant and knowledgeable and I wish I lived closer. 💜💜😋😋

The smores cupcake is perfect! I will be coming back here!
